Music has the power to find on a small scale what we are also looking for on a large scale: to be free, to take the moment as it is and to know that only together can we get to this longed-for other place. To paraphrase Ornette Coleman: Beauty is a rare thing.

In the newly founded Christian Marien Quartet, Tobias Delius, Jasper Stadhouders and Antonio Borghini are soulful masters of their craft who play in precisely this spirit. It is the first ensemble that the Berlin percussionist has launched under his own name. Of course they improvise, and Christian Marien's compositions are also primarily there to be reinvented again and again.
