Arvin Artas’s first solo exhibition draws on motifs from fan culture and video games of the early 2000s to establish connections between post-9/11 militarization and the current political situation in Germany. With a blend of carnivalesque irony and elements of horror, *Clouddomination* focuses primarily on the connection between Islamophobia in the media and the systemic violence of the U.S.-European war machine. Arta brings the cute, fluffy metaphor of the digital “cloud” from the tech industry back down to earth and asks how the material infrastructure of the internet exercises power.

Arvin Arta is a Berlin-based artist who develops experiments that explore the ontology of technology, race, and surveillance. Arta’s artworks primarily take the form of videos, websites, and interactive installations. Arta has received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, ISA, the Deutschlandstipendium, and SFPC. Arta worked as a research assistant at Antenna (Hafıza Merkezi) in Berlin and was a guest lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts. Arta’s works have been exhibited at Ars Electronica, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, the Kyiv Biennale, the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, the New Museum, and documenta 15, among other venues.
