In the organizer's words:

He would have been 100 years old in May 2024: the legendary Berlin jazz guitarist Coco (Heinz Jakob) Schumann, whose fate was only known to a few - until his biography "The Ghetto Swinger" was published in 1997 and a film documentary about his (survival) life in three concentration camps was released shortly afterwards. Reason enough to remember him and his fate with concerts organized, conducted and moderated by his long-time friend and colleague, saxophonist Karl-Heinz Böhm. In addition to original arrangements of Coco's favorite swing tunes, some of his own compositions will also be played.

Kalle Böhm - a veteran of the Berlin jazz scene - will also make the concert entertaining and informative with stories and anecdotes from Coco Schumann's musical life. He will be supported by Uli Hoffmeier, a member of Max Raabe's Palastorchester for 28 years (and one of the few 7-string guitarists) and bassist Robin Draganic from Canada.
