When melancholy conquers the stage: Cœur de Pirate live in November 2026

For more than a decade and a half, Béatrice Martin, better known as Cœur de Pirate, has been one of the most influential voices in French-Canadian pop music. Her career began almost casually, with a few songs on MySpace - intimate sketches that seemed more like secret diary entries than a debut. But her unmistakable timbre, this mixture of melancholy clarity and youthful defiance, quickly spread beyond Québec: within a few months, Martin was an international name, her first album hit the charts in Europe and North America.

Martin later told us openly that there was a struggle behind this early lightness - against panic attacks, expectations, inner resistance. Her songs have always seemed like coded self-diagnoses in which hope, vulnerability and defiance are closely intertwined. The musician, who played piano at the conservatory as a child, composed soundtracks, ventured into purely instrumental music and repeatedly had to reorganize her life, has made a habit of not hiding her private life, but transforming it into art. Perhaps this explains her enormous resonance. Cœur de Pirate gives her listeners the feeling that they are witnessing a very personal, sometimes painfully honest process.

When she returns now with "En cavale", it feels like both a new beginning and a return to what made her famous. On stage, she combines the fragile intimacy of her early pieces with a self-confident, almost luminous pop that has become bigger, clearer and more physical. The new concerts are carefully orchestrated journeys through moods and musical chapters: an interplay of quiet moments at the piano and powerful passages in which Martin conquers the stage in dance. It is an art that does not conceal its biographical breaks, but transforms them into energy. An invitation to be carried away by sound, gestures and light for an hour and a half. Cœur de Pirate will be coming to Germany for three concerts in the fall of 2026. A rare, all the more urgent promise of an evening that you won't soon forget.
