At the heart of the theater production is the commemoration of the victims of the genocide of the Nama, Ovaherero, San and Damara - committed by soldiers of the German so-called Schutztruppe in the years 1904-1908 in what is now Namibia. The historically grounded and at the same time emotionally moving performance brings the pain of this colonial crime to the stage.

Keith Vries' performance demands attentive listeners. He interweaves the experience of death, grief and displacement in an acoustic collage. The image of the robbed future of the generations to come emerges from a mosaic of literary fragments.

The production by the Nama theater group and the current exhibition "BURIED MEMORIES. Dealing with remembrance. The genocide of the Ovaherero and Nama" at the Museum Neukölln combine to form an overall picture of the culture of remembrance.
