Community Stage #5: Rekorder präsentiert Nepumuk & Razzmatazz

The Community Stage is dedicated to Rekorder Nordstadt, a formative location for Dortmund's subculture and club culture. Since 2013, the volunteer-run cultural space has offered local artists and collectives a stage that deliberately went beyond conventional club structures. The Rekorder saw itself as a political, open and communal space and was often described as a youth center for adults. After more than ten years, the Rekorder had to give up its previous location at the beginning of 2024 and is currently looking for new premises.

On this evening, the Rekorder will be represented musically by Nepumuk and Razzmatazz, two artists who stand for attitude, diversity and independence. Nepumuk combines amusingly sophisticated rap with social criticism, personal observations and pointed wordplay. On jazz and funk-soaked instrumentals, he addresses patriarchal structures, pressure to perform and digital dullness in a critical, humorous and open dialog. His music unfolds a special energy live, where beats, loops and lyrics have an even more direct effect.

Razzmatazz is a DJ, producer and co-founder of the Rekorder Kollektiv. He stands for cross-genre sets between house, afrobeat, disco, hip hop, soul and rare groove. As a curator, organizer and artist, he has been shaping Dortmund's music landscape for years and creates spaces for collaborative, diverse and open club culture.
The Community Stage offers insights into the work of the Rekorder, its significance for the city of Dortmund and the current challenges, musically, politically and personally.
