Jazz trio

Where is the piano trio currently heading as a classical jazz instrumentation? The pianist and composer Constantin Krahmer has made a clear statement on this and shows his very own approach to the piano and the piano trio. He is undoubtedly influenced by the great existing tradition, but he has also created his own, very personal sound world. It is reminiscent of the sound language of Bill Evans, Paul and Carla Bley, of Scandinavian jazz such as that of Jan Johansson or Christian Wallumröd, but also of Morton Feldman, and in places even of Joseph Haydn or Frederic Chopin.

In Cologne drummer Leif Berger and New York bassist Thomas Morgan, Constantin has found two excellent partners who complete and enrich the trio with their musical personalities. Both have a highly developed musical intuition and can adapt perfectly to Constantin's intended sound aesthetics. The outstanding Danish bassist Thorbjörn Stefansson, who will be joining the album release tour in April, also possesses these qualities.
