In the discussion on the theme of the exhibition "Notes on Lightness / Notizen über das Leichte" at the HGB Gallery, lightness or "becoming light" stands for a resistant movement that resists the pull of gravity of unbearable burdens by opening up an unexpected, surprising space of possibility. But what does "lightness" mean in art and how can it be described more precisely? Does it always have a political and an affective, a linguistic and a physical side? Does it change with the digital world? And how can we avoid falling for its (possibly unfounded, commercial) promises of happiness?

With the invited participants Kathrin Busch (philosopher), Ariane Müller (artist, writer, publisher), Michael Klipphahn-Karge (art historian) and Joseph Vogl (literary, cultural and media scholar).
