COSMIC COUNTERREADINGS accompanies the exhibition COSMIC GIRLBOSS through critical and collective practices of counter-reading. Artistic and scientific impulses alternate in investigations into magic, gender and spiritual entrepreneurship.
Starting with Walpurgisnacht, the participants will offer the following: a performative staging of financial speculation as spiritual ritual (Salesforce Child), an artistic contribution on Blood Money (Dera Luce), an impulse on witches* as epistemic twists (Celica Fitz), a dialog on occultism (Emily Hunt & Isis Mrugalla-Kalmbacher), a lecture and performance on the connections between alchemy, gender, fascism and the internet (Margarita Athanasiou), a reading with AI-generated tarot cards (Wassim Z. Alsindi) and a talk on gender norms and economization in social media (Marita Günther & Henriette Hanky).
COSMIC COUNTERREADINGS is a collaboration between exhibition curator Frances Breden and the research collective Enchanted Epistemes, represented in this project by Celica Fitz.
About Enchanted Epistemes:
This collective of interdisciplinary researchers* is developing the concept of "Enchanted Epistemes" as a tool for investigating current forms of knowledge and world-making in group rituals, healing practices, digital spaces and material culture, contemporary art, and their intersections with the sciences. By examining such processes and aesthetics of performative (re)enchantment, approaches from aesthetics of religion, sociology of knowledge, history of knowledge and gender studies are combined. Participating members of this event are Celica Fitz, Marita Günther, Henriette Hanky and Isis Mrugalla-Kalmbacher.
