Cotonete (Heavenly Sweetness/Favorite Rec./FR) *live*

Cotonete: A mix of 1970s jazz funk, soul, film scores and music from Africa and South America. Consistent, creative, organic and not at all cerebral.

Cotonete from France were founded in 2005 and have since become something like the best French band of the 70s. The band draws its inspiration from heavy grooving jazz-funk and sounds from Africa and South America. Whether groove, soul, funk, North African electro-folk, samba or disco - their influences, coupled with an almost inexhaustible curiosity, are diverse.

The band initially established itself primarily as a live band and released a series of maxi singles and EPs. The collaboration with Dimitri From Paris resulted in the track "Patribbean Disco", which was played up and down in all clubs in the summer of 2018 and established Cotonete as the central French jazz-funk reference. After almost 15 years of band history, their debut album "Super-Vilains" was released by Heavenly Sweetness in 2019. This was followed shortly afterwards by "Atemporal", a joint album with Brazilian singer Di Melo.

This year, Cotonete finally released a new album, "Victoire de la Musique". They have brought Guts on board as producer, who has provided the band with new and exciting rhythms from all corners of the world. Top-class guests such as Leron Thomas and Omar, London's Godfather of New Soul, as well as Sabrina Malheiros and Gystere Peskine make the album a real experience.

The weave of references and collaborations is wonderfully complex and the result is so light-footedly beautiful that we can only advise you to treat yourself to the live experience.
