Crossdorf Festival: Bow Brothers

In the organizer's words:

The Bow Brothers play acoustic cello rock: on classical instruments (cello and double bass), supplemented by the cajon as a rhythmic element, the five- to six-piece band plays rock music with influences from blues, jazz, classical music and metal.

In addition to highlights from recent music history, the program includes their own compositions. Compared to the inventors of the genre, Apocalyptica, the Bow Brothers' style is less hard and unamplified, i.e. without the use of pickups and music systems. Instead, the style is more diversified. The Bow Brothers' repertoire not only includes covers of Metallica, but also ACDC, Liquido and Avril Lavigne, for example.

The influence of other musical genres becomes even clearer in the Bow Brothers' own compositions. Here, rock riffs are combined with classical melodies and other influences such as the blues. Some of their own songs place the classical melodies more in the foreground, others are driven forward by fast rhythms, from which melodic elements break out again and again or are replaced by quieter sections.

The likeable Hamburg band also features a Bow Sister and is still at the beginning of its career, but its unbridled joy of playing and the pleasure it takes in experimenting with classical instruments already makes it an insider tip.
