German, French, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew, English - Dalida sang in so many languages. Hits like "Bambino" and "Paroles, paroles" made her a world star. She made music history. And yet she was one of the saddest figures in the pop world.
Dalida's career lasted almost three decades - and brought her gold and platinum records for 150 million records sold, and she was even the first artist in the world to receive a diamond record.
In her private life, however, her life was overshadowed by tragedy. Her songs always reflected her own melancholy. In a low register, with a rolling R, she sang about the darker moments in life: "On the day the rain came / long longed for / hotly pleaded for...".
Dalida: this is a person in search of true love. Her life: a rollercoaster between success and despair. Reason enough to dedicate an evening to this exceptional artist. Accompanied musically by pianist Julian Friedrich, ensemble member Oana Solomon approaches the phenomenon of Dalida.
