The queer, disabled choreographer and dancer Dan Daw is struggling with the pressure of success after the acclaimed world tour of his last piece. His new work EXXY (Australian slang for "expensive") is a bold, vulnerable and tender exploration of imposter syndrome and fluctuating self-esteem. Dan takes the audience to the Australian outback. To the place where his life began - characterized by the working class and always having to make do with little. And he shows how far he has come. Together with three performers who walk and talk like him, Dan finds serenity in the possibility of finally being one of many - after always standing out all his life. Following the Kampnagel audience's acclaimed THE DAN DAW SHOW, the PIK program and a broad circle of international co-producers made the choreographer's first piece for the big stage possible.
The Dan Daw Creative Projects (DDCP) team has developed Pre-Show Access as an additional service for all visitors to EXXY who may need additional information to feel comfortable in the space and enjoy the performance. This includes visitors with visual impairments, neurological abnormalities, deafness or physical disabilities.
"Pre-Show Access" is an informal drop-in event before each performance. It begins one hour before the start of each show.
No registration is required - just come to Hall k2 at Kampnagel between 19:00 and 19:45 (please note that some elements of "Pre-Show Access" are only available for the first 30 minutes, as described below).
The event is hosted by the DDCP team and includes:
*These elements are only available during the first 30 minutes before the start of the performance until the venue closes for the performers to warm up.
It is possible to listen to the audio description with headphones provided by Kampnagel or to bring your own headphones with a mini jack.
