DANCING HEARTBEATS

In the organizer's words:

Breakdancing/breaking was long part of a culture in which women tended to be accessories and were not allowed to be strong, self-confident and wild. Frieda, Jilou and Viola have worked hard to earn their place in the scene. For them, dancing means freedom, and the three of them go their own individual ways: B-girl Jilou is at the peak of her career and is now one of the best in the world.
While she is winning one battle after another with enormous determination, Frieda is struggling with an injury. As a B-Girl from the very beginning, she has to accept that she can no longer rely on her body as she gets older and find a life after professional sport. B-Girl Viola wants to be recognized above all as a dancer and combines breaking with contemporary dance. For her, every battle is also a fight for her artistic identity. Jilou is now training in the German selection for the Olympics and is one of the hot medal candidates. DANCING HEARTBEATS is an inspiring film about the courage to realize dreams and pave the way for oneself and the next generation.
