In dialog with works from the Falckenberg Collection, the exhibition ICH LIEBE WIDERSPRÜCHE opens up a new perspective on the work of Daniel Spoerri (1930-2024). After his first career as a classical dancer, Spoerri founded the Nouveaux Réalistes group in Paris in 1960 together with Yves Klein, Jean Tinguely and other artist friends and developed into a formative representative of object art.
Spoerri became known as the founder of Eat Art and above all for his trap pictures, in which he glued together fleeting everyday scenes - the traces of a feast with plates, glasses and leftovers - to create assemblages and thus elevated them to art - or anti-art - in a playfully subversive way.
Please note that this exhibition also includes works that are not suitable for children and that some people may find disturbing.
