A friendship research

We want them. We need them. We all like them: friends.

Studies have shown time and again that loneliness is not good for us and can even make us ill. But why is it sometimes so difficult to find friends, to avoid arguing with them or to make up with them? How do we know if someone is our friend? And how many friends do we actually need? To find out, we want to conduct a friendship research study. We will start with the question that adults often advise children to ask, but rarely ask themselves: Can I play along?

The friendship research takes place in workshops in daycare centers and schools and then invites children to the theater. Because while there are rituals and celebrations for many other social relationships - such as weddings or family celebrations - friendship is left out. The performances in the theater are celebrations of friendship. We want to invent decorations, games and music for them, and maybe we'll manage to tie the longest friendship ribbon in the world! And who knows - maybe we'll go home with new friendships.
