Frankfurt, September 11, 2023 - Acclaimed singer-songwriter Darius Rucker, known for his eclectic musical career, announces additional dates on his "Starting Fires Tour 2024" and will once again ignite the stages of Germany. After a long hiatus from live performances in Germany, the three-time GRAMMY Award winner will thrill his German fans on April 19, 2024 in Cologne at Live Music Hall and April 22, 2024 in Munich at Backstage Werk. The "Starting Fires Tour 2024" not only marks Darius Rucker's return to the stage, but also the upcoming release of his seventh solo album, which he will call "Carolyn's Boy" in honor of his late mother. With previously released songs such as "Same Beer Different Problem," "Ol' Church Hymn" and "Fires Don't Start Themselves," Rucker is giving fans a taste of the upcoming album, which will be released on October 6, 2023 via UMG Nashville. The general pre-sale for the Germany dates will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023. However, fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets in the exclusive pre-sale via CTS and myticket as early as Wednesday, September 13, 2023, starting at 10:00 am.
Darius Rucker, known to many as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish, has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide in his impressive career. His debut album, Cracked Rear View, achieved double-diamond status (21x platinum) and still ranks among the top 10 best-selling studio albums of all time. Since his first country album in 2008, Rucker has gained a whole new fan base with four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, as well as 10 No. 1 singles at country radio and 11 gold, platinum or multi-platinum certified hits. Rucker even received RIAA diamond certification for the 11-time platinum song "Wagon Wheel."
On October 4, 2024, Darius Rucker will receive a star on Nashville's Music City Walk of Fame alongside Don McLean (American Pie), rock and roll guitarist Duane Eddy and former record executive Joe Galante. The Music City Walk of Fame, a project of Music City Inc, the nonprofit foundation of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, was established in 2006 on Nashville's Music Mile, a roughly one-mile stretch connecting downtown to Music Row.
Rucker, however, is not only an outstanding musician, but also a dedicated philanthropist. As co-chair of the capital campaign, he was instrumental in helping to package $150 million for the construction of the new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital in his hometown of Charleston, S.C. Through his annual Darius & Friends benefit concert and golf tournament, he has raised more than $3 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In addition, Rucker has championed over 200 charitable causes and supported public education and junior golf programs in South Carolina through the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation. As National Chair for the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, Tennessee, he helps preserve and celebrate America's rich musical history.
Darius Rucker is not only active in the music world, but also in the sports sector.
