The main protagonist Claudio "Bocia" Galimberti is now a helmsman on a fishing boat in the Adriatic. However, "Bocia" was previously a lifelong member of the Bergamo Ultras, part of the hard core - one of the most respected and feared groups in Italy and Europe. His absolute dedication to the city and the club has made him the undisputed leader of the Curva Nord since 2000.

In the world of Ultras, the Atalanta Bergamo fan curve has a special status. As a pioneer of mentality and consistency, it still has something mythical about it today. Those who grew up in Bergamo and the surrounding area sooner or later come together in this "Curva Nord" to become the self-proclaimed "Guardians of a Faith".

In this film, director Andrea Zambelli traces the last two decades of Claudio Galimberti's life, a time of rapid and far-reaching developments: The violent clashes with the police in the 1990s, the transformation of the Curve into the glue of the city and the numerous trials that led to Bocia's exile. Zambelli also describes the process by which soccer went from a 'sport for all' to a global business, until the stands were finally left empty by the Covid pandemic.

"A guardia di una fede" portrays Claudio "Bocia" Galimberti's life as a relentless fighter for his cause, his club and his city and provides deep insights into the inner life of a subculture.
