Das große Musikduell

In the organizer's words:

The big music duel takes place quarterly at Shades in Dortmund and offers space for up to 24 teams of two players each.

This is how the evening works

You arrive at your leisure, briefly let the event management know that you are there and then register your team (including team name). You then have some time to enjoy the atmosphere, order your first drinks and chat with the other teams.

We will then start the tournament at around 7 pm. The game is played in the Swiss system with 7 duel rounds per team. In each duel round, two teams compete against each other who have the same number of points and have not yet played against each other.

A duel round consists of 12 songs. The task of both teams is to guess the artist/title of each song on the one hand and the year of release on the other. Both teams can decide for themselves what risk they want to take:

Example: The song is played. Team A chooses group/solo artist:in for one point and decade for two points. Both answers are correct (= 3 points). Team B chooses artist and song title for 3 points and the exact year of release for 3 points. The artist and song title are correct, the year of release is incorrect. Team B therefore also scores 3 points.

A total of 72 points (6 points per song) can therefore be scored per duel round. The team that has collected more points at the end of a duel round wins the music duel. The three teams that have won the most music duels at the end of the evening can not only look forward to fame and honor, but also take home a trophy.
