The heart in the Christmas stocking
Musical reading with Ulrich Noethen
Ulrich Noethen reads Christmas letters from famous men and women. The reading is accompanied by piano music.
It has gone a little "out of fashion", but for a long time writing "Christmas letters" was just as much a part of preparing for the festive season as buying presents, baking cookies or cutting the Christmas tree. The collection "In my Christmas stocking your heart" brings together Christmas letters from famous men and women from three centuries. They all celebrate Christmas in their own way: Goethe captures the winter landscape in pencil on paper, Sartre goes skiing, in the Arnim household the "jubilation that transcends all boundaries" ends in a small brawl and Mark Twain gives instructions from "Santa's palace on the moon" on what to do when the presents are brought down the chimney. Through these letters, we get a glimpse into the windows of other people's Christmas parlors, experience great festivities, lonely evenings or endearing quirks and have just as much reason to be touched as to laugh. The stories behind the letters are also told. They were written in warm parlors or cold prison cells. Look forward to an entertaining and relaxing Christmas evening at Haus Münstberg.
