In the organizer's words:

We are in the seventies, in New England. J.B. Mooney (Josh O'Connor), a former art student, is practically retraining in his field. Together with two buddies, he works on stealing two paintings from a regional art museum. After the initially successful coup, however, J.B. proves to be completely overwhelmed by the consequences of the operation that soon follow. In the end, not much remains of his romantic gangster dream of the perfect art theft. In her films, director Kelly Reichardt repeatedly focuses on the losers and outsiders of American society. These marginalized figures are not romanticized, but presented with all their faults and quirks. This is also the case here. What begins as the rebellion of a naive free spirit against the constraints of middle-class life ultimately turns out to be the odyssey of an unconditional and selfish individualist.
