A tour of the former Pöppendorf transit camp in Waldhusen Forest will take place on May 10 at 3 pm. From 1945 to 1951, more than 615,000 people who had to find a new home in the entire British occupation zone passed through here.
In keeping with the 80th anniversary of Schleswig-Holstein, contemporary witnesses will have their say in short readings at the authentic site: the camp management, refugees from the past and present, coupled with statements from the Red Cross and the British.
Participation is free of charge, donations are welcome and will be used to finance a digital museum on the Pöppendorf camp. Further information can be found at https://gofund.me/03560c9cf
