Matthew Lopez's acclaimed play, which has already run in London's West End and on Broadway, unfolds a subtle, complex and fast-paced epic about a group of gay men from three different generations struggling for responsibility, cohesion, truth and care in the face of their difference. Eric and Toby are a happy 30-something couple living a comfortable life with their friends in the heart of the queer and intellectual metropolis of New York. But in the climate of the burgeoning populism of the Trump era, the private and political portents of their existence change: they plunge into a relationship crisis, the consequences of which violently shake the self-image of their identities and are reflected in the crisis of a deeply divided, unreconciled country. The play consists of two full-length parts that can be experienced at weekends as one coherent theatrical event.
