After the Second World War, Nazi doctor Josef Mengele (August Diehl) goes into hiding in South America. His son confronts him there in 1977. In haunting black and white images, the film shows Mengele's methodical disappearance over two decades - without remorse or insight. With a piercing gaze, it forces us to look where the authorities looked the other way.
