Before David August sold out classical concert halls from London's Barbican to Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw, as a 19-year-old resident DJ he got people dancing at Hamburg's EGO Club. In electronic music, the classically trained pianist found an energy and power that also characterizes music in instrumental compositions and whose symbiosis became the essence of his work. His third studio album has now been named after the Latin word for power or energy: VĪS is an acoustic work of art with which August has set the history of mankind since Plato's cave to music in four cycles. Flute melodies and archaic chants and rhythms are transformed into orchestral drones and beats that point towards the digitalized chaos of the information age.
