Slow Club Freiburg presents: David Howald

Swiss-born and Viennese by choice, David Howald last made a name for himself as the head of the avant-rock formation Werckmeister. He will now release his first German-language solo album "Der Narrsein" at the beginning of 2026. Stuttgart-based sound guru Ralv Milberg (Die Nerven, Friends of Gas) provided support. In the back of these nine intimate, quiet and broken songs, something like the skeleton of abysmal soundscapes appears again and again. No less evocative are Howald's lyrics, which lure the listener into visually powerful spaces where the personal and the general merge effortlessly. What could be described musically as a kind of post-folk with an ambient frame finds its very own place on the map somewhere between Vic Chesnutt, PJ Harvey and the quieter works of Einstürzende Neubauten.
