Der 227. Blaue Montag - Bühne frei für Rampensäue!

For the 227th "Blue Monday" on February 2, 2026, cabaret artist and host Arnulf Rating will once again surprise his audience with a wild mix of comedians, acrobats, musicians, satirists, life artists, slam poets and similar eccentrics, both familiar and new discoveries. Since 1990, "Blue Monday" has been a showcase for talented types and original personalities, a fast-paced, beautiful and quirky show, accompanied by changing live bands. Since 2004, it has also been held at the Kleist Forum in Frankfurt/Oder as "Der Blaue Mittwoch".

At 8 p.m., the curtain rises at the cabaret theater Die Wühlmäuse this time for, among others for Germany's first iPad magician Andreas Axmann, the passionate silent film composer Stephan Graf von Bothmer, for the diabolo breakdancer Söran Diabolista, for the versatile and sharp political stand-up Frowin, for the quick-witted songwriter Michael Krebs, for "great musical narrative cinema" with the singer-songwriter Manfred Maurenbrecher and for the eloquent stand-up cabaret artist Gernot Voltz.

This time, the Vocaphoniker will provide the evening's musical accompaniment with couplés and songs from the 1920s. As usual, the whole thing will be presented by Arnulf Rating and spiced up with political satire.

The Blue Monday

"Der Blaue Montag" began in 1989/1990 in the former Quartier Latin (now the Wintergarten), which members of the music group BAP and the 3 Tornados (Arnulf Rating, Holger Klotzbach, Günter Thews) had taken over and converted into a variety show, with the advertisement "We are looking for arty farts or people who can make others laugh for 5 minutes". When the venue had to close, Arnulf Rating's Maulhelden office organized the "Blue Monday" weekly at the Tempodrom after a break until 2005, the show was then hosted by Holger Klotzbach at the TIPI am Kanzleramt for a short time before it moved to the specially converted cabaret theater Die Wühlmäuse in 2014, where it has been shown every 2 months - except during the summer vacations.

Launched as a renewal of the then somewhat dusty variety theater, "Der Blaue Montag" has become a playground, development laboratory and reflection of Berlin's wild, extravagant cabaret scene. It brings together characters, life artists and originals from the urban jungle who - each for a few minutes - have the opportunity to inspire, provoke and take your breath away. Cabaret combined with sophisticated, political cabaret - the show reaches far beyond the boundaries of the genre, offering space for artistry/acrobatics, comedy, singing, music, theater, magicians - but also talk and readings. Many well-known artists have already been in the spotlight at "Blue Monday" - some of them in their early days.
