Vinylrausch #85 – Butterfield Blues Band, Heath
Vinylrausch
Berlin | June 18, 2026 | 9:30 PM
A wild, earthy rush to get us ready for the loud nights of this festival summer.
In 1966, a pivotal year for rock music, theButterfield Blues Band’sgroundbreaking albumEast–West(1966) blends the emotional essence of Chicago blues with the power of the rock beat, the freedom of jazz, and the evocative energy of modal improvisation. Our Album of the Month.
Eric Burdon and The Animalshelped to make the quintessentially American blues popular again in its homeland, the USA. On the third track ofLove Is(1969), the band strips popular psychedelic rock down to the raw power of its blues roots.
Just how fruitful these musical roots remain to this day is demonstrated by the young Dutch bandHeath. With modern, blues-influenced rock and the harmonica as a solo instrument, the album*Isaak’s Marble*(2023) traces a broad arc back to Paul Butterfield.
At Vinylrausch, we celebrate albums as works of art and listen to them together in a darkened theater, loud as at a concert, with lyrics and images displayed alongside the analog vinyl.
Vinylrausch #85takes place on Thursday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. atthe Sputnik Cinemain Berlin
