In the organizer's words:
Max and Agathe want to get married - only one shot separates them from their happiness. Custom dictates that a test shot decides whether Agathe's father will hand over his daughter and the forestry to Max. But Max is plagued by bad luck and this matter is too important to leave to chance. Afraid of failing, he lets his supposed friend, the shady Kaspar, persuade him to cast free balls. What Max doesn't know is that only six of the seven balls hit the target without fail. With the seventh ball, the devil gets himself a victim.
