"This evening is a real theatrical frenzy. Just two actors, Paul Schröder and Jirka Zett, turn Schiller's quirky ghost story into a real event
and create real stage magic," is how Norddeutscher Rundfunk described the theater production of "The Ghost Seer".
In 2009, the graduate production by young director Antú Romero Nunes with Schröder and Zett, then still students at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, caused a sensation at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. So much so that the Thalia Theater Hamburg revived this production for two years in 2018. Now it is rising from the ashes once again: as an exclusive chamber play in a format suitable for traveling. In the spirit of theater upcycling, Jirka Zett and Paul Schröder create a new evening, oscillating between memories of the original production and an update that takes account of its development as well as the fact that the (theater) world continues to turn. One thing, however, remains unchanged: the rousing interplay between two actors, as stormy and urgent as Schiller probably meant it to be more than 200 years ago.
