18.12.2026 - On the weekend of January 10 and 11, the Storytellers from the Ruhr region will once again bring theater life to the well-known artist oasis Unperfekthaus. With their new play, they will provide exciting entertainment on stage.

With "The Ödlings Effect", the Storytellers are once again presenting their own creation and welcome you to Ödweiler - where nothing happens.

Or does it?

Because behind the sleepy, even dreary town façade, something is stirring! It eats its way through captions, likes and half-truths: the Ödling.

Only Connie Lambertz (played by Florian Eichhorn) sees the danger. A man, a wasteland fighter, a failed existence. But with Internet access and driven by the desire to finally be important. To be seen at last.

While those around him scroll through life seemingly effortlessly - full of success, purpose and self-realization - Connie gets deeper and deeper into his mission. But what is he actually fighting? What is truth, what is madness?

"The Wasteland Effect" shows how claims can turn into staged fears, fed by "alternative" facts spread via digital channels. Is belief alone enough to turn a threat into reality? And could it have fatal consequences?

Let us take you on a journey through media fog zones, personal crashes and the search for meaning in the constant digital noise. A story about trust in the media, frustration, self-dramatization and the fine line between enlightenment and madness.

Weird, dark, funny. Welcome to Ödweiler.

From the plot to the stage design and music to the elaborate costumes by Melissa Charlot May, the entire production was created in-house. Once again, the theater group is relying on a creative overall performance under its own direction.

"Media shapes our everyday lives like hardly any other topic. This makes it all the more worrying how difficult it has often become to distinguish between opinion and actual reporting. This is exactly where our new play comes in - and we are very excited about the reactions of our audience," says Anika Beschmann, director of Storytellers. Director and creator of the play Adriano Augello-May adds: "Information is the currency of our time. How we experience it, consume it, evaluate it, form opinions and how it influences our actions has changed dramatically and will continue to do so in the future. For me, The Oedling Effect is an amalgam of many small observations."

A total of 15 talented actors take to the stage and impressively demonstrate that amateur theater can also pursue high artistic standards. The Ödlings-Effekt illustrates the potential of a small theater group when passion, commitment and hard work come together.
