One, two, three, .... You! One in four people experience phases in their lives in which they encounter it: a diffuse melancholy with a painful lack of drive or the feeling of a lack of meaning in life - in short, depression.
An illness that you can learn to live with. The road is long - but also surprisingly creative. For example, there is this image from literature and therapy: depression - a black dog. Always there, relationship unresolved. It refuses to leave, growls, snaps, bites. Now and again, there are signs of peaceful intent: can he be put on a lead for a walk?
Julia Raab & Anja Schwede translate life with the black dog onto the stage through the interplay of mask, puppet and object, documentary material, elements of choreography and music. Semi-satirical caricatures, songs and, above all, the experiences of those affected examine the theatrical image for its suitability to bring depression out of its speechless corner. Every fourth person has to live with it, the question is - how?
