„Der tanzende Berg“ – Lesung von Elisabeth E. Hager

Only a year ago, young Marie Scheringer returned to Tyrol to take over her uncle's taxidermy workshop. Now her childhood sweetheart Youni is dead and the silence in the village is choking her. But one morning she receives a lucrative rush job. And when a friend of Youni's turns up on her doorstep just a few hours later, Marie's frozen world begins to crumble.

Marie Scheringer has twelve hours to stuff the lapdog of a rich hotelier's daughter. It's hard to manage, but the job is lucrative and when you usually only groom wolpertingers because the local hunters don't take a young woman seriously, you're grateful for any challenge. After all, Aunt Hella is there to help her with all kinds of pragmatic household tips. But while Marie is brushing off the dog's fur, she is haunted by memories of the love of her life, Youni, who died six weeks earlier.

When a former villager turns up who has a lot to say about Youni, it is clear that the day will end in an unusual way. And indeed: over the next few hours, not only is an animal's body opened up and filled with new life, but the encrusted structures in the village are also broken open - until finally even the mountains start to move.

ELISABETH R. HAGER (*1981 in Tyrol) is a writer, sound artist and member of the "Radio Art" department at Dlf Kultur. She has received numerous scholarships and awards. Previous novels: Kometen (2012), Fünf Tage im Mai (2019), Der tanzende Berg (2022). Together with Verena Güntner and Julia Wolf, she founded the literary collective LIQUID CENTER, which published the collective novel WIR KOMMEN in March 2024.
