You are cordially invited to the most spectacular party of the millennium: We are celebrating the 300,000th birthday of the vulva! To celebrate, we're reviewing the life of the vulva, remembering all the funny and exciting moments, letting ourselves be surprised and giving the birthday girl our full attention!

"300 years ago, the female orgasm was mentioned in every medical book and was thought to be important for reproduction."

Hanni Lorenz and Jojo Rösler pop the corks as hosts and offer guests a colorful party where all the birthday game classics such as sack races, ovary races and hot candy are unpacked. In search of mom's garden, they reminisce, talk about men who are too interested in what is called "the female sex organ" and question why the female orgasm of the present is supposedly so much more difficult to achieve than the male one.

With ease, "The Origin of the World" shows how absurd and deeply rooted patriarchal structures shape ideas of femininity. The play takes us on a journey from antiquity to the present day, holds up a mirror to society and invites us to a special birthday party - sometimes sweet, sometimes sour, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, just like a perfectly assembled colorful bag.
