Der Wald in Afrika

As part of a cooperation between "Green Visions" and LIT:potsdam, Volker Schlöndorff and Dieter Kosslick are organizing an evening at our festival.

Dieter Kosslick and his passion for film and cinema are legendary, but it is not so well known that the long-time Berlinale director is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener, a conservationist and a lover of good food, which for him does not exist without valuable nutrition. In the new film festival "Green Visions", which he curated, he can combine his commitment to all three causes in the most sensual way.

Volker Schlöndorff is best known as a congenial filmmaker of literature who won an Oscar with "The Tin Drum". He himself has been the subject of many documentaries, but has also made politically motivated documentaries that bear witness to his great interest in people, following individual fates and broadening our view of the times that shape them.

Afterwards, the documentary film "Der Waldmacher" by Volker Schlöndorff will be shown. The film portrait is dedicated to Tony Rinaudo, a remarkable man who came to Niger in 1981 to combat the growing spread of deserts and was awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize in 2018 for his life's work. The director follows the path of the Australian agricultural scientist to various African countries and encounters topics that concern us all today:

Migration, climate change, gender equality.
