Tour of the Welfengarten and the adjoining part of the Georgengarten. The Welfengarten, which today is mainly perceived as the campus park of Leibniz University Hanover, looks back on a 300-year history as a garden in the Herrenhausen Gardens. It all began around 1720 as the garden of Montbrillant Palace, at that time still a late Baroque garden in the French style. Towards the end of the 18th century, it was transformed into an English-style landscape garden, while the Wallmoden Garden was created opposite in today's Georgengarten. When the king had the Guelph Palace built, it was renamed the Guelph Garden. Shortly before this, the Prinzengarten had been laid out next door for the royal children, with which the Welfengarten was merged after the Second World War. Five years ago, the Guelph Garden was redesigned to make this interesting garden history visible and tangible for visitors.
