We are celebrating the biggest World Book Day festival in central Germany with author Angelika Niestrath and illustrator Timo Grubing.
A cooperation between Erfurt's city center bookshops, the children's and youth library, the city management of the city of Erfurt and the SWE Group.

To mark UNESCO World Book Day, Erfurt's city center bookstores are inviting you to a big literary festival on the Angerkreuz in Erfurt on April 25. The event starts at 11 a.m. and promises an exciting and entertaining program for the whole family.
A special highlight awaits you on stage: author Angelika Niestrath and illustrator Timo Grubing will present their work and provide insights into the world of children's literature, actively involving the audience in the event.
To mark World Book Day, the city center bookstores are giving away the new World Book Day book "The Flying Class Scooter", which is designed to encourage children and young people to read. The campaign is supported by the City Management of the City of Erfurt and the SWE Group.
Another highlight: a total of 2,000 World Reading Day books will be distributed to passengers in three streetcars - a great initiative to spread the joy of reading throughout the city.

Angelika Niestrath trained as a bookseller, worked for children's book publishers and made a name for herself as a non-book expert. She develops trade fair projects and product presentations, and together with Andreas Hüging she now also designs and writes children's books. The two of them live in a house full of books and instruments, but most of the time they are on the road.

Timo Grubing, born in 1981, studied illustration at Münster University of Applied Sciences and has lived back in his home town of Bochum since graduating in 2007. He works as a freelance illustrator in a wide variety of fields: He illustrates children's books, school books and games and works regularly for magazines and agencies.
