Anatolian psychedelic pop from Hamburg

Grup Simsek, founded in 2014, is an "outernational" band - with members from a variety of countries: Turkey, Germany, UK, France.

The line-up: Derya Yildirim, the talented Turkish singer and baglama (aka saz) player, drummer Hellen Wells, Graham Mushnik and Antonin Yoyant, multi-instrumentalists and melodic magicians of the French collective Catapulte Records (Orchestre du Montplaisant, Guess What, Phat Dat...).

The group first came together through music connoisseur, DJ and mutual friend, Sebastian "Booty" Carrell (B-music), when they gave a one-off concert during the Hamburg Festival. It quickly became clear: what had started as a Hamburg project would continue!

In 2015, Grup Simsek met up again in London and France, and in 2016 they recorded their first EP Nem Kali . After its release, the band toured Europe, from smaller clubs to large festival stages in over 10 countries. They performed live on BBC Radio 3, France Inter and Arte concert program. They have shared the stage with artists such as Zelda Bagcan and Turkish psych legends Baba Zula and performed at Istanbul's renowned Zorlu Club. In 2019, Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek released their first full album Kar Yagar, which was followed by further tours and attracted the attention of various filmmakers, magazines and festivals. Following the release of the single Deniz Dalgasiz Olmaz in March 2020, the band is now looking forward to the upcoming release of their double LP DOST and to touring the stages of Europe again!

From September 1, 2024, there will be a new price concept at the Kulturhaus Schwanen. You decide for yourself whether you have a small, normal or generous wallet. This means that proof of reduced-price tickets is no longer required. Background: We want to offer all people, no matter how thin or thick their wallet is, low-threshold access to our events and build your solidarity in the community. In this way we help each other - simply - low-threshold and without much fuss.
