DESIGN YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL RINGS

Inspired by the 5,000 year old Lost Wax technique, you will experience real goldsmithing in this workshop! Workshop leader Elina is a jewelry designer from Berlin and can't wait to help you design the ring of your dreams. After you have made a wax mold of your ring in this class, Elina will cast the ring in precious metal and send you your new favorite ring 2-3 weeks later. Don't worry, your (wax) ring is in good hands, because Elina not only trained at the Goldschmiedeschule in Pforzheim, but also studied design and founded her own jewelry label. In addition, it is close to her heart to establish sustainable jewelry produced in Germany. Let's be honest: it doesn't get any better than this.

ATTENTION! The workshop fee includes only the design course on the wax. Depending on the size of the ring and the choice of materials, the costs for the further processing will amount to another 90 € - 145 €.

ABOUT THE LOST-WAX TECHNIQUE:

In the lost-wax technique (also called lost-wax casting), the wax model is enclosed in an investment material that will later serve as a mold for the precious metal. Precious metal is poured into the mold through a pour hole in the mold. In the process, the hot metal melts the wax, which can escape from the mold through an exit hole. When the precious metal mass cools, the mold can be removed. What remains is your ring, to which Elina's skilled hand adds the finishing touches.

TO THE WORKSHOP:

In this workshop, you will design your individual ring by implementing your specific design idea in a wax model in consultation with Elina. Of course we also have some templates to inspire you. You decide with Elina how your wax model should be processed after the workshop: Should it be silver, blackened, covered with a thin layer of gold, matte or polished? 2-3 weeks after the course you will finally receive your dream ring by mail.

• Gather inspiration: scour Pinterest and Instagram to gather ideas for your ring. Feel free to bring illustrations and pictures of rings you like.
