As a folk singer, singer-songwriter Désirée Saarela focuses her work on the Finnish-Swedish folk music and folk song tradition. With her unique voice, she brings past stories into the present.
With her ninth album "Annanland (Otherland)", Désirée Saarela is breaking new artistic ground. Inspired by Van Gogh, Klimt and Schiele, sound and image merge to create an emotional overall experience. For the first time, Saarela sings bilingually - in Swedish and English - and blurs boundaries. Supported by fascinating visuals by artists Malin Skinnar and Chloé Kelly Miller, the album also becomes a live multimedia work of art. Annanland invites you to discover your own places of longing - beyond the familiar.
