Reading and talk with Ira Peter

The author Ira Peter came to Germany from Kazakhstan at the age of nine. Based on her life story, she talks about what many Russian-Germans experienced and the problems they faced. She talks about being ashamed of her own origins in the Soviet Union, about mistakes in integration policy and about why some people are particularly open to Russian influence. With a critical yet empathetic eye, Ira Peter shows why Germans from Russia are often perceived as foreign and why it is important to talk about the topic.
