Düsseldorf-based Daria N. Ivanova has been a freelance artist and illustrator since 2011. With a pronounced penchant for pop surrealism and a talent for humorous as well as critical illustrations of images of women and everyday topics, her art ranges from digital works in print to traditional paintings in a mix of materials and tattoo designs on customer request.
With a degree in art history and German studies, Ivanova has laid a solid theoretical foundation for her creative journey into the worlds of forms and words. Her studies were followed by both national and international exhibitions, where Ivanova exhibits a variety of her works under a pseudonym dedicated to her hometown 'Düsseldorf.Art'. Her artistic approach is deeply rooted in her love of literature and art history as well as her ability to integrate these into contemporary works in a fairytale-like way. She is a storyteller who brings storytelling to life through her paintings and encourages us to question traditional views. A closer look reveals a humorously ambiguous but also critical level of interpretation. What distinguishes Ivanova is her ability to transform the familiar and the clichéd into something creative and to convey an original, different message. In a world that is often so serious, a refreshing breeze of humor is needed. She shows that art should not be seen solely as a beautiful lifestyle product, but first and foremost has the ability to be amusing and at the same time touchingly critical.

Daria says: "Art, in whatever form, is a way of connecting. It can, but shouldn't be just a trend, created to complete the outfit in the closet or the colors of the interior. First and foremost, it can act as a mouthpiece for what you want to express and dare to do or what touches and concerns you personally. When you 'adorn' yourself with art, you don't just get a beautiful accessory for your living room or bookshelf. You get a piece of the history of the person who created it. You get hours of failure, nights of practice, days of experimentation, months of joy. Even years of trying or brief moments of inspiration and success. Art is not 'fast fashion'. You can and should own art or wear it. However, you are also allowed to endure and question it. It is not just a beautiful 'thing' - it is precious time and expensive thought. A fraction of another person's perception, with the help of which you become part of each other's lives. At best for a long time."
