DIALOGICAL GUIDED TOUR
with Mira van Leewen (German Cookbook Museum, Dortmund) and Linda Schröer (curator)
Mira van Leewen and Linda Schröer will look beyond the horizon and discuss the migration of food, the preparation of coffee and the importance of different cookware and kitchen techniques based on the artworks in the "Schlaraffenland" exhibition. They will take a detour to the history of asparagus and talk about the ban on baking at night, eating in times of crisis and need and discuss the knowledge stored in cookbooks. The open discussion is intended to encourage people to reflect on our food culture and its diverse social meanings, which go far beyond the actual act of eating, using practices such as table setting.
"The cookbook library is a place for anyone interested in food, food culture and stories. During consultation hours, a team of volunteers will process your inquiries. Whether you are looking for a recipe for a seasonal dish, researching for a scientific paper or simply enjoy browsing through cookbooks, the volunteers will take care of your request. Cookbooks that the library owns more than once can be taken to the Henriette-Davidis-Gesellschaft e.V. in return for a donation to the cookbook museum.
