Die Eichhörnchen-Story
In the organizer's words:
Nico, the young squirrel, scurries through the park but finds no nuts on the walnut tree—just a lot of trash. Why doesn’t the tree have any nuts? Waltraud Walnut Tree can’t figure it out herself. Does the owl have any advice?
Nico’s new friend, Ratte from the trash can, gets some coffee from the athlete Katharina so that the squirrel can ask the owl about it that night. She offers some cryptic advice, and Nico and Ratte must find an unusual way to turn Katharina into an environmentalist in order to help the walnut tree…
What makes this production special is that the entire set and the characters were built from reused or upcycled materials.
Scraps of material and old decorations from the theater workshop were transformed into an imaginative set, and the characters were built from plastic and fabric scraps. For example, an enchanting squirrel puppet was crafted from old onion bags and a glove; the tree’s branches were made from sawdust scraps; and the leaves were created from painted packaging film. It’s impressive that something as beautiful as this production could be created from scraps and waste materials.
