In the organizer's words:
The cabinet exhibition presents the reference library of the Kunst- und Naturalienkammer. Around the middle of the 18th century, this collection of around 50 volumes on the subject of the cabinets of curiosities of the time was displayed in the lower part of the cabinet, so that it was always to hand. Gottfried August Gründler made intensive use of this literature when furnishing and designing the cabinet of curiosities in the Halle Orphanage. It was also used to explain numerous objects in his collection catalog. A selection of these mostly richly illustrated volumes is on display in the cabinet exhibition.
