Is it art, can it go, or what is the state of the drinking arcade culture between Wesel and Unna? Herne-based author and journalist Peter Hesse has now photographed over 1,000 little booths - and has mainly captured broken, improvised or uninviting examples in front of his lens. His first exhibition at Schwerter Wuckenhof (from 8.12. to 10.2.) was a complete success with over 600 visitors. The pictures then went on tour, with further exhibitions following in Waltrop, Gelsenkirchen, Wanne-Eickel, Lünen, Osnabrück, Dortmund and now in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

This has become Peter Hesse's theme. At some point during the first coronavirus lockdown (March 2020), he started making short trips to areas he didn't know very well. He then traveled to all four corners of the Ruhr region and photographed drinking establishments that looked particularly curious. For three years, he posted one every day on his Instagram account (instagram.com/hessepeter) - and the demand kept growing. In mid-November, he stopped with the 1000th Trinkhalle on Instagram, but the exhibitions continue. El Fisch (Verstörte Becker, Lokalmatadore) will be playing a special set of Trinkhallen hits at the exhibition opening.
