Measuring is part of research. And yet measurement itself is not a science, but an art.
Measuring can be fun, look great and lead to all kinds of strange findings and events - as the artists from POMC Productions show in their production Feldmessung (from 4 years), which is about creating a map for a rocket launch (see left page). Being measured is sometimes not so nice. "A standardization of body and space," Claire from POMC Productions calls it. It starts right after birth and continues at school. Even our theater is measured. Artistic research has often claimed that it can do without measurement and that there are things that cannot be measured. But if measurement is an art, can we perhaps also invent measurement methods ourselves and have a say in what should be measured? The Forschungstheater researched this question with children a few years ago. On the occasion of the guest performance Feldmessung, the FT and the artists of POMC Productions invite you to a joint research workshop - for cultural workers, educators, researchers and anyone interested in the art of measurement.
