DIE LAUSITZ TROMMELT 5.0 I 2026 – RHYTHMUS TRIFFT WORT

In the organizer's words:

Powerful beats, powerful lyrics: For the fifth time, theLAUSITZ FESTIVALandGLADHOUSECottbus (Straße der Jugend 16 | 03046 Cottbus) are opening their doors for a creative afternoon filled with music and language.

Together with partners such as theZentrum Popand theKiezpoeten, visitors can look forward to a diverse, hands-on program centered on drumming, spoken word, and creative writing. The focus is on the moments in between: when hesitation sets in, words fail us, decisions are hard to make—and it is precisely from these moments that new beginnings emerge.

In this way, “Die Lausitz trommelt 5.0” also offers a preview of this year’s Lausitz Festival, whose diverse program from August 25 to September 13, 2026, explores the challenges and opportunities of new beginnings. The workshops explore these tensions, translate them into rhythm, and transform them into participants’ own texts.

Whether in the drum circle in the main hall or in the individual workshop formats, rhythm and words merge here into a shared experience that invites participants to experiment, exchange ideas, and reflect further. The event concludes with a joint finale where everything comes together and is brought to the stage—before the evening winds down in a relaxed atmosphere with a screening of the film “So klingt das Leben.”

Workshop 2 // Bucket Drum Circle in the Garden // 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM & 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM

WHAT IS A Bucket Drum Circle? Circle – The name says it all: Together with many others, we’ll play on buckets while sitting in a circle. It’s all about fun, music, joy of life, and communication. Age, background, and prior experience with rhythm don’t matter. Together, we’ll explore tempo, volume, interlocking rhythms, and improvisation. Tillmann Spiegl will guide the group through this exciting experience.
Tillmann helps the group get to know themselves and the bucket as an instrument. The circular arrangement is no coincidence here. No one sits in front.

Drum circles are an inclusive way to experience music and community, suitable for every audience and every person.

No registration is required for the drum circle (though it would be helpful for our planning)!

Motto: Just drop by, join in, and have fun!

Instructor: Tillmann Spiegl holds a B.A. in music education and a master’s degree in early childhood education research. For the past five years, he has worked as a band coach and as a guitar and bass instructor. In addition to his work as a musician—he plays bass in a band—he regularly conducts professional development and continuing education workshops for teachers and early childhood education specialists. His work combines musical practice with scientifically grounded pedagogy and a special focus on creative and holistic learning processes.

We’ll give you the tools you need to get started right away.

Workshop 4 // Slam Poetry at the Forefront of the Times // // 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.

In this workshop, we’ll discover the power and sound of our own language. Together, we’ll develop ideas, write texts, and bring them to life with our voices. Selected examples from the poetry slam scene will inspire us to try out new forms of expression and explore the diversity of the spoken word.

Workshop 5 // Beatboxing // 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM & 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM

Together, we’ll explore beatboxing in a playful and hands-on way—no prior experience needed. We’ll develop a basic sense of rhythm, voice, and body control, experiment with different sounds, and experience how music can be created using only our own bodies. In the process, we’ll share a musical experience that brings us together, is fun, and helps break down inhibitions.

Myron is a beatboxer, musician, and content creator from Berlin with roots in Kharkiv (Ukraine). He studies songwriting and music production at BIMM Berlin and performs throughout Germany and Europe.

His musical background ranges from drums and trumpet to vocals and beatboxing as a versatile means of expression. He combines technical precision with musical creativity and demonstrates how the voice can become a full-fledged instrument.
