Die neue Republik: ein gemeinsamer Aufbruch

It is always a good idea for citizens to come together and discuss public affairs. But right now it is urgent, and the stakes are high: liberal democracy must prove itself anew in a fierce global struggle over power and values, both internationally and here in Germany. The outcome will determine how freely we will live in the future.

In this time of trial, we invite you to rediscover our shared republic and breathe new life into it. What we need now is a renewal driven by citizens and a cross-party dialogue on where this renewal should lead. What kind of country do we want to have become in a few years? How can we, as a society, develop a renewed confidence in progress? We have everything we need to make it happen if we tackle it together as democrats. The center-left has its own important role to play in this: from empowering citizens and ensuring good local infrastructure, to reforms that promote fairness and cohesion in our diverse society, to a new, collectively supported resilience.

This is a day for everyone who wants to be part of such a shared new beginning.
