THE PEACOCKS
Founded as a school band in Stammheim, Zurich in 1990, The Peacocks have since toured halfway around the world and released 10 studio albums, various singles and best-of compilations.
In November 2024, the current work "And Now What?" was released on the Nuremberg label Concrete Jungle.
Around 2000 concerts: The Peacocks have toured all over Canada and the United States several times, were permanent guests in England, played two tours in Japan and of course all over Europe. From Tromsø to Granada, from Galway to Kiev, from Rimini to St. Petersburg. With stops for concerts along the way, of course.
Stages were shared with all the legends (except Fats Domino and The Clash), but also with the local blues band. On the biggest festival stages, a small café, the hippest club in town or in the youth center. They were number 1 in the Japanese indie charts, slept on filthy apartment carpets or in the band bus at sub-zero temperatures.
The Peacocks love what they do. Their style, originally influenced by the rockabilly revival and psychobilly of the 80s, is now a perfect blend of what the London underground scene had to offer in 1981. Nevertheless modern and up-to-date.
PADDLECELL
A wild mixture of energetic old-school psychobilly and fast offbeat, complete with clacking double bass and fat brass. The cheeky ignorance of the six Wuppertalers towards subcultural boundaries pays off, because the dirty dozen self-written songs on the new album "Sometimes we come back!" not only sound unique, but also as if the band could have drawn on the oeuvre of countless other bands. But there aren't any. Of course, one or two other Billy bands have experimented with ska (less so the other way round), but Paddlecell are well on the way to creating their own genre. They already have a name for it: horror ska - given the topics they address in their lyrics. This experimental band is interesting for anyone who has had their fill of 2-tone and ska-punk but doesn't want to do without uptempo. And for psychobillies in particular, if they like vocals à la Sparky (singer v. Demented are Go). Because that's almost what frontman Marc sounds like.
Summed up:
The unique style between psychobilly and their own created horror ska, promises variety with short boredom! With a deep, atmospheric and goosebump-inducing voice, peppered with rockabilly guitar riffs, a driving slap bass, crazy drums and well-rounded dark brass arrangements, the listener is transported into a deep yet unrecognized psychosis.
